AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

INVESTMENT STOCKS AND SHARES. COMPARISONS OF RECENT TRANSACTIONS. TO TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1933. The following table furnishes a guide to investors. It shows the trend of the market over twelve months for a comprehensive list of securities, at the same time indicating the latest movements, namely, from a week ago to the date of compilation. The rate of interest obtainable to present day purchasers is also presented, the calculations based on the latest dividends. Since last week business has been erratic with a quieter tone prevailing. There has, however, been little marking down of values and bank shares have steadied after their recent easing. A table compiled by the "C'hristchurch Times," quoting comparative values of 1!) representative New Zealand and Australian securities, and taking July, 1930, as 100, shows the index on October 20 as 102.9, compared with 103.1 on October 19. A year ago the corresponding figures were 82.9, showing a rise of 2-1 per cent.

Return on 4 per cent Government Stock is based on redemption at maturity. fSubject to English Income Tax. tPree of Income Ton. 'Subject to Income Tax. Calculation based 011 Interim Dividend, interim Dividend parsed.
