TUAKAU INSTITUTE.

The usual monthly meeting of the Tuakau Women's Institute was held in the Oddfellow's Hall on October 26, when Mrs. Lewis presided. The roll call for the evening was sing, say, play or pay, and community singing was led by Mrs. and Miss Vauglian. A play, "A Domestic Entanglement," was well acted by Mrs. Barron, Misses Laing, Fulton, Ley, Bush and Carter. A competition -"A Bowl of Flowers,'* arranged by Mrs. Vaughan, was won- by Miss Laing. A dainty supper brought an enjoyable evening to a close. The hostesses were Mrs. Donaldson, Miss Donaldson and Miss Hard. A meeting of the arts and crafts circle was held during October, when Mrs. Smeed, sen., gave a demonstration of an owl and an ostrich made from pine cones.
