WESTFIEI/D WEEKLY SALE. STEADY DEMAND, FIRM VALUES. . There was a steady demand for fat cattle at Westfield to-day, and as the offering was. excellent values ruled firm in most classes. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—To-day at our Westfield fat stock market we sold 175 head, comprising 89 steers and 86 cows and heifers, compared with 101 last Wednesday. The quality of the offering was first-class, and a steady demand resulted in values for light and medium-weight cattle ruling firm at late rates, while heavierweights rea' ; sed late values. Extra choice ox sold to 20/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 17/ to 19/; just billable, 14/ to 16/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 16/ to 19/; just billable, 12/ to 15/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £8 to £8 17/6; heavy, £7 10/ to £7 17/6; lighter, £6 15/ to £7 7/6; light, £5 12/6 to £6 12/6; extra heavy _prime young cows and heifers, £5 to £5 10/; heavy, £4 2/6 to £4 17/6; lighter, £3 to £4; other cows, £2 to £2 17/6. An average yarding of calves came forward, the bulk of the offering comprising light vealers and small calves. The offering did not include any heavy runners or heavy vealers. Values remained on about a par with last week's rates. Medium runners, £2 to £3 1/; medium vealers, £2 6/ to £2 15/; light vealers, £1 15/ to £2 4/; small vealers, £1 to £1 11/; rough vealers, 10/ to £1 1/; 'oobb'v calves, 4/ to 8/.
Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report: To-day at our weekly Westfield fat stock market we penned fat cattle to the number of 271 head (comprising 112 steers and 159 cows and heifers), compared with 154 head last week. The yarding of ox beef was of very good quality and sold freely throughout, prices remaining firm at last week's quotations. The cow and heifer pens were well filled, and they also kept firm at last week's prices. Extra choice ox sold to 20/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 16/ to 18/; ordinary and plain ox, 14/ to 15/;. prime young cow and heifer beef, IS/ to 20/; ordinary cow beef, 13/ to_ 16/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in' price from £8 to £8 7/6; heavy, £7 10/ to £7 17/6: lighter, £6 15/ to £7 7/6; heavy, £7 10/ to £7 17/6; lighter, £6 15/ to £7 7/6; light, £5 15/ to £6 10/; unfinished and small, £4 12/6 to £5 10/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 5/ to £5 15/; heavy, £4 ]2/6 to £5; lighter, £3 15/ to £4 10/'; other cows. £2 10/ to £3 10/.

There was a ready demand, with values very firm at late quotations.
