WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
SWANSON. The Swansou Institute celebrated its 7th birthday on" the 26th inst., and had a record attendance, when six 6ister institutes were represented. Mrs. Bβhague Just, presided, and Mrs. A. Woods gave a short address on the early days of the institute. A sketch was written by Miss Ellis, and acted by Mrs. Knipe, Mesdames G. and Win. Taylor, Nankivell, and P. Clark. Songs were given by Mesdantes Vaile and P. Clark. WAIOTIRA. The institute at Waikiekie-Waiotira, held its first monthly meeting in the Waikiekie Hall on October 26, when their motto wae "If you know of a good thing pass it on," and the competition for something new made out of something old. The hostesses were Mesdames Leech, Eowntree, Stevens and O'Shea. PAENGAROA. The Paengaroa Ine-titute met on Thursday last, when Mrs. Hickson, the president, gave an interesting report of the meeting of the Bay of Plenty Federation meeting held in Te Puke recently. Matron Chappel, of Te Puke, gave an instructive address on methods of prevention for common ailments, and also a demonstration of bandaging. Mrs. McXaughton, of Papamoa, organisor for the Bay of- Plenty, addressed the meeting, and a'so gave a demonstration in glove making. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdamee Stokes, McDonald and McKenzie.
