RARE DOG.

Foug Foo arrived in Auckland by the Waipiata yesterday from Dunedin. Fong Foo is an aristocratic Chinese seven-moiith-old puppy with a long pedigree. It is a Chow, Chow and the second of its breed to be landed in Auckland. The dog was shipped by Mr. A. Mazey, of Dunedin, to the order of Mr. S. FullerSandys, of Baildou Road, Grey Lynn. Mr. ' Fuller-Sandys said • to-day that the variety, was exceptionally hard to reiir, and a litter of "four would be considered exceptional. It was the edible dog of China, but although China was its habitat the difficulty was to secure a dog with a pedigree. Fong Foo was the direct descendant of & long line of pedigree animals, which were taken out of China and bred in England with remarkable succ&se in the show ring. So So of Kang, higher up the lineal, tree, was unbeaten for two years in his own class at the Crystal Palace Show, and was twice adjudged best of all breeds. Through the rarity of the breed the dog landed to-day was valued at £30. A feature of the Chow Chow breed is its shaggy coat, with outstanding ruff round the neck, and perpetual scowl. There are only three of the dogs in New' Zealand. They are described as quiet and remarkably faithful to their owners.]
