RACING AT PAEROA.

OHINEMURI MEETING. CARD FOR TO-MORROW. THE FIELDS REVIEWED. The Olvinemuri Jockey Club will hold a meeting at Paeroa to-morrow and Saturday on behalf of the Taumarunui Kacing Club. Good fields are engaged in the majority of the events, and with fine weather the fixture should be a succcssful one. The Hurdles. Fourteen figure in the Handicap Hurdles. Cruaclian showed that he was ncaring his best by finishing third in the open sprint at Cambridge on Monday. Unoco has not raced for some time, but is stated to be doing well at Te Aroha. Full Mer.sure and The Hiker will probably be absentees. Welcome Boy won over hurdles last year, while Valpeen was third in the hurdles at Cambridge on Monday, an event won by Ruby Meteor, who is also engaged. Sea Ruler would only need to jump properly to have a good chance. Wee Pat ran second to Catoma at the July meeting at Ellerslie and should again go well. London, who was second to Ruby Meteor in the Hunters' Hurdles on Monday, should prove the best of the others. Those that may command most attention are RUBY METEOR WEE PAT UNOCO. The Juveniles. Of the nine two-year-olds that are paid up fir in the Juvenile Handicap, Sporting K ..g is the only one with any credentials, having run a second and third at Avondale. Gay Egypt, King Brierly and Keith Lu are reported to have pace, while Cynara may be benefited by the outings she had at Avondale. Star Artist won well at Avondale, while Grand City showed speed in his races last season, being in the money three times in his six starts, his last effort being a second, to Lady Zinnia at Kotorua;. C<?n Fuoco ran second to Phiakuo in a sixfurlong race at Te Rapa last May, and has only been saddled up once since. Queen Nona showed a lot of speed as a two-year-old, being placed on five occasions. Alloy, after getting away badly in tlie Nihotapu Handicap, seven furlongs, at Avondale, was finishing on well at the end to get fourth. BAROSCOPE ' ROYAL ARTIST ALLOY. ' Hack Handicap.; Rereatu, who is top-weight'in the Hack Handicap, was a good two-year-old last season, winning : five events and being placed on otfier occasions. He has been galloping well at Takanini. Sinking Fund showed up in his two six and a half furlong efforts at Cambridge on Monday, but failed to stay on. Gay Broney ran two good races at the Avondale meeting and should be hard to beat. Grand Score won nicely at Cambridge, while Tin Lap should be greatly benefited by bis race in the Bardowie Handicap at the sarnie fixture, in which he finished second. Mustang also showed up for a good way in the same race. Mungatoon and King Mestor have been doing well at Te Aroha. The favourites may be GAY BRONEY TIN LAP GRAND SCORE. The Steeplechase. Simeon, Wiltshire, Valpeen, Creina's Sing and Mia Stella competed dn the Waikato Hunt Cup at Cambridge on Monday, and with the exception of Wiltshire, who finished fourth, they all came to grief, the firstnamed being brought down by another horse. They are all in the Steeplechase Handicap to-morrow. Patutahi and Glenade are also engaged. The latter fell at the last fence in the hurdle race at Cambridge on Monday and has yet to be tried oyer steeples, while Patutahi has been schooling well at Ellerslie. Kilstar, who was placed third in the Farmers' Steeplechase, may bo the best of the others. The chief fancies may be WILTSHIRE VALPEEN PATUTAHI. The Flying Handicap. Half a dozen remain in the Flying Handicap. British Columbia showed some pace in her races at Avondale earlier in the month, being narrowly beaten into third place in the President's Handicap, six furlongs, on the last day. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") " ; PAEROA, this day. There was a fair muster of horses at the Paeroa course this morning, but very -little fast work was done before breakfast. The track was iu excellent condition and very. fast. V ; Prolyxo did steady pace work on the plough. She will start in the six-furlong race to-morrow and will be ridden by K. Voitre. Alloy and British Columbia did a round at three-quarter pace and moved well. .Both horses have freshened up in appearance since Avondale. Gay Athlone, ■'an;'attractive two-year-old by Gay Shield, jumped oif from the tive-furlong post and completed the round at half-pace. Voitre lias been engaged to ride this filly in the two-year-old race to-morrow. The best gallop of the morning was registered by Keith ,Lu,. who was associated with Day Wind over three furlongs, Keith Lu finishing a .length-ahead in 36 l-ss.
