"PERILS OF PAULINE."
The -wild, blood-and-thunder days of the cinema are being revived with the filming ot "The Perils of Pauline," which made Pearl White a favourite a decade or so ago. Evalyn Knapp has been cast as Pauline and she will visit Hollywood replicas of the furthermost corners of the world each week, the plan being to locate each episode in a different country. Pauline first came "to America's attention in the Ithaca and New York City studios 17 years ago. Serials were a necessary part of theatre programmes at that time and Miss White became an outstanding star through the weekly instalments. Serials still are beinq shown in small-town houses, but are rather avoided by the more sophisticated palaces. It is feit, however, that Pauline will be able to stage a "'come-back."
