THAMES COAST PROPOSAL

DISTRICT TO BE CANVASSED.

THAMES, this day.

A meeting of the Thames Coast residents convened by Mr. L. Watson was held at Thornton's Bay _ yesterday afternoon to meet representatives of the Thames Valley Tower _ Board and the Thames County Council to discuss a proposal to- extend the boards power supply line from Thames borough to the coast area as far as Waimio. Mr. H. Lowe, chairman of the Thames County Council, presided, and there were also present Messrs. J. Price (chairman) and N. Mc-Leod (engineer) of the Thames Valley Power Board, J. McCormick, district member of the board, I. J. McMahon, riding member of the council, D. MacKay, county clerk, and about 50 residents.

The chairman explained the proposal, and the hoard's engineer gave details. It was stated that the total cost of installing electricity in the area, indicated would be over £3000, and the estimated revenue was based on the board's returns in connection with the Waihi Beach extension.

A number of questions were asked by residents, and oil the motion of Ml. Watson it was decided to recommend the board to make a canvass of the district on the question of installing electricity in dwellings on the Coast Road A small committee was set up to assist the board's canvasser in securing the necessary support.
