TROTTING.

AUCKLAND MEETING. READY FOR SATURDAY. WORKOUTS TOMORROW. Mutters iu connection with the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting to open on Saturday are well in hand, and light harness enthusiasts can confidently look forward to being provided with excellent sport both on Saturday and .Monday. Already several visiting horses arc on the scene at -hpsom, and will be among those given a linal workout to-morrow, when tue course proper will be available. Meteor, who just missed winning the double at Hamilton by a head, looks none the worse lor Jus racing, and lie is strongly landed lor the big race on Saturday. tactless has gone out of favour, but a good trial to-morrow would bring him many friends again. Great l'arrish is the ruling favourite, but he is by no means a good thing for the race, as he was all out in both ins races at the Waikato, and the penalty he has incurred will not make matters any easier for him. Kewpie's Guy is bound to go well, and the fact tliat she is bracketed with another good horse in l'egaway will not be lost sight of when bac-Kers get busy. Lady Coronado is a possibility, but the others do not appeal at this stage. The sprint race looks a fairly good tiling for Meteor, should he miss the big race and escape a penalty. At Hamilton lie lost a few lengths at the start, and was then only beaten in the last stride.

ANOTHER FOR ROBERTSON. The novice pacer June Koyal, brought up from Chris tchurch to tlie Waikato meeting by J. Shaw, has joined t>. llobertson's stable at Otahuhu. June Royal shaped fairly well at Hamilton, and finished fourth in the Frankton Handicap won by Worthy Light. She is a four-year-old mare by Hey lie Oro, out of a Logan Pointer mare, and should have many seasons' racing before lier. WENT VERY WELL. Tinokaha, who will contest the novice pacers' race at the Auckland meeting, paced in good style yesterday when leading Kewpie's Triumph, Dan Direct and Glandore over the last mile and a quarter of a fairly good workout. Tinokaha has a lot of speed, but in the past he has not always paced well. WILL BE FAVOURITE. The speedy Cimarron has done plenty of steady work, and he is bound to be at a short price in the final event on Saturday. The gelding has so much speed that lie has only to leave the mark right to gather in the field early, and after that they will have the hardest part to keep with him. The only fly in the ointment in his case is his tendency to go away from the mark badly. RUNNING ALL WRONG. While no one could put a shilling on Tactless on Saturday after his form at the Waikato, it is certain there must have been something wrong with the gelding, as his form was far too bad to be true. His party are completely puzzled because Tactless has always been going on at the end of his races, but at Hamilton he was well beaten with a round to go. COURSE PROPER TO-MORROW. The course proper will be open for fast work at Epsom to-morrow from 8.30 a.m. In the past the weather has invariably been unfavourable 011 the occasions when the grass track has been available, but trainers may be in a happier position to-morrow. Just at present the course is in excellent order. PACED BADLY. J. Garnett's pacers Le Chenault and C'apilano did not race prominently in their Hamilton engagements, and both will have to improve considerably to get a stake at the Auckland meeting. C'apilano was expected to be hard to beat in the Claudelands Handicap, but she never sot within striking distance of the leaders.
