FARMERS AND DAYLIGHT SAVING.
I am more than surprised that Mr. McKean, a Labour member, representing the workers of this country, should wish to extend daylight saving to one hour. Has Mr. McKean ever thought what this absurd measure will mean to the farming community (who work from daylight till dark) and to the real toilers, to say nothing of little children in the country, who will have to Tise at 6 a.m. to trudge two and three miles to school? It is all very well for politicians, sporting bodies, etc., who do not have to rise from their beds till the sun is well up. They spend the afternoon and evenings in sport; no one ever them at sport at 5 and C a.m. The bill, if passed, is going to ruin tho health of' the already overworked. It is high time we had men in tho House with the brains of Mr. "Seddon and Mr. Massey to throw out the shoddy legislation that is being put through the House. BACK TO STANDARD TIME,
