DO OTHERS REALISE?

RELIEF WORKER'S VIEW. (To the Editor.) The letter by "Skinned Out," would bay# annoyed mo if I had not been blessed with a sense of humour. As' a relief /worker lam not foolish enough to dream- of wireless gramophones or moving pictures. As for motor ears, not even in my wildest nightmares have I dreamt of motor/cars. I would be grateful if "Skinned Out" would tell me where°l could obtain boot-s and joints of meat. My boots would disgrace an impoverished Turk, w I cannot obtain a new pair until I'have worked for several weeks. Does "Skinned Out" realise that as a family man I draw the magnificent sum of 27/ per week, and I also pay the unemployment tax and my own tram fares to and from work; this does not leave much to feed and clothe us after payiuc one's rent, etc. 1 quote from his letter: "And yet relief workers can grumble if put on piecework." Are we not allowed to grumble or voice an opinion on matters affecting ust i understood that free speech was one of the advantages of living under the Union JackDoes "Skinned Out" realise that a poorly.fed relief worker would not earn a living if put on to a piece of heavy work day after day, and- who would pay for his boots and clothes when working amongst stone? J hare heard the relief worker much maligned, y e f [ work with several who served through the Great War voluntarily. We were wanted then, but now—well, anything will do them, ONE WHO REALISES
