Mr. John Farrell, .Auckland manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., ha_s returned from south. Mr. J. Ilott, general manager of J. Ilott, Ltd., is returning to Wellington by the Limited this evening. Mr. R. 11. Allen, general secretary of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., returned from Whangarei this morning. Mr. Sinclair Cariuthers arrived from Wellington by the Limited this inorniiv; and is staying at the Station Hotel. Mr. W. 11. Hemingway, president of the Automobile Association for the years 1915-10 and 1918-19, was, elected a life member at the annual meeting las'. evening. Commander E. Lyon Berthon, officer in charge of the Devonport naval base, and Paymaster-Commander M. V. Duke, of H.M.S. Philomel, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. C. E. H. Quin, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Quin, of Otorohanga, and late of the Treasury Department, Apia, has been appointed Assistant Secretary to the Samoan Administration. The Rev., C. E. Roke, a home missionary in the Methodist Church, lias resigned in order to commence undenominational mission work in the Chatham Islands. He spent two years in the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, Auckland, graduating in 1931. Mr. F. O. B. Lane, a student at College House, Christchurch, has been appointed a lay reader for the parish at the Chatham Islands. The Rev. J. A. Wilson, the resident vicar, died recently, and the Rev. A. 11. Barnett, of Rakaia, has teen acting, but has now returned. Mr. Lane will fill the position for tinlong vacation, returning about the end of Februarv.
