OFFER REFUSED.
MT. ROSKILL RELIEF MEN. BOARD'S SPECIAL MEETING. An offer by the Mount Roskill Road Board to hear the defence of the six relief workers who were dismissed recently by the board's foreman was this morning refused by the men. It is understood that they would not be heard individually, but were prepared to be heard in a body. A special meeting of the board in committee was liekl at nine o'clock this morning. The six out-of-work relief workers, with Mr. F. E. Lark, president of the Auckland Provincial Unemployed Workers' Association, and Mr. Dromgool, president of the Mount Roskill Relief Workers' Association, waited outside. After considerable discussion, the men were told that the board had agreed to hear them individually, in the presence of Messrs. Lark and Droingool. They held a meeting on the street 'outside, and decided that they would not be heard individually. A decision as to what action will be taken will be made at a special meeting of the Mount Roskill Relief Workers' Association tonight.
