NEW SEASON'S FISH.
PLENTIFUL, BUT LIGHT.
ANGLING ON WANGANUI,

TAUMARUNUI, Monday.
The fishing season on the Wanganui opened yesterday with a dull, overcast sky and cold wind. Anglers were early at work, especially on the water between the two bridges which has been closed for some years. As far as quantity went most of those out did well, these 10 to 15 fish per rod being quite common, but these fish barely averaged lib each. For the dry-fly men the day against good bags. Probably the best bag of the day was 10 fish of an average of 2}lb taken by Mr. Ron Robinson. These fisli were mostly rainbow and in muchc bettei condition than the smaller fish. They were taken on quite a large fly, fished 011 the drag. Anglers agree that the river is full of fish, but they are not yet ready to be ward in condition than this time last rear.
