TELEPHONE BOX WRECKED
MOTOR CYCLE OUT OF CONTROL. A telephone call box at the corner of Stanley Street, at the foot of Parnell Rise, was nearly split in halves when a motor cycle crashed into it about six o'clock last evening. The rider was cut about the face by flying glass from the panels of the cabinet.
The machine, ridden by Mr. J. Davis, of 7, Castle Street, Grey Lynn, developed trouble in the throttle control as it approached the corner from Beach Road to the foot of Parnell Rise. The cycle careered across the road, a\ oided a safety zone, and took to the footpath. After just clearing two telegraph poles and a fuse box, it crashed head oil into the telephone box, almost cutting it in two. Splintered woodwork and shattered class was strewn about, and the lamp and front forks of tho heavy machine were damaged.
Mr. Davis was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance and was later able to go home.
