ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
WAIKATO MAORI CONVICTED.
(By Telegrapn.—own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Saturday. A plea of guilty to a charg-e of attempted suicide was made by a young Maori, whose name was suppressed, in the Magistrate's Court to-day. Senior Sergeant Power said accused resided at a pa near Ngaruawahia and d'.il not work. Last Sunday he had a difference with a girl with whom he had been associating, with the result that he visited a neighbouring house and attempted to take his life with a shotgun. The charge glanced off his chest and accused had been recovering in hospital all the week. Accused, who said he reeognis«d the folly of his act, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon.
