PENWOMEN'S CLUB.

The rooms of the Penwomen's Club presented a gay appearance oil Wednesday evening, when a Japanese party was given by the members of the journalism section. Wistaria and cherry blossoms, coloured lanterns, Oriental screens and brass made a suitable setting for the brilliant kimonas of the guests. Mrs. Carr-Rollett presided. Dance and incidental music was provided by Madame Powdrill's orchestra of mandolins and steel guitars. Among the concert items was "A Japanese Love Song," given by Miss Yvonne Beaumont The Misses Targuso gave an original interpretation in costume of the story of the willow pattern plate; Mr. J. W. Bailey recited the speecli on peace given by Mr. Orchida, Japanese Ambassador to the United States. As an encore he gave a Chinese monologue in costume, entitled "Orange Blossoms." Miss Rita Haresnape sang "A Lament." A dance was given by Misses Quinn, Brock way -.Rogers, Doris Brown, and Winsome Whitehead. Two charming solo dances .by Miss Bettina Edwards were much appreciated. The concluding item was a play, "Chrysanthemums," produced by Mrs. Booth. Those taking part were: Miss Betty Page, Miss Winsome Whitehead, Mr. G. H. Leslie and Mr. W. Smith. A dainty supper was served. Among those present were: Mrs. Carr-Rollett (president), Miss Violet Sperling (convener), Mesdaines Smith, McLean, Howie, Boswell, Innes, Milburn, Ponder, Warren, Steele, Snadden, Spinley, Bennett, Leslie, Booth, Bailey, Carte-Lloyd, Misses Burton, Innes, Melville (2), Peacock, Annitage, Carr-Rollett, Whitelaw, Eden Jones, Darcy Jones, Whitelaw, Moore, Lavcr, Spicer.
