RUGBY HONOURS.
THREE TEAMS LEVEL SPECiACULAR PARK MATCHES. M A NUKAU-PONS ONB Y THRILLS Pace! Pace! Pace! Spectacular, thrilling football— the type that we used to feast on at Eden Park was served up with the meeting of Manukau and Ponsouby in the big match of the Auckland Rugby Union's senior championship on Saturday. And Manukau won by one point—l 3to 12. After Saturday's games, three teams— University, Ponsonby and Marist—are now 011 equal terms at the top of the championship ladder with 2i points each, and trailing behind is Grammar, with 21 points. There has not been such an interesting filisli to the championship for a long time. After the indifferent displays given by Grammar 011 many occasions during the season, their defeat of University in the curtain-raiser came as a minor surprise. Grammar did all that was right, and University did all that was wrong. College Rifles played well to beat Grafton at Western Spiyigs Stadium, and Marist scored a convincing win over Otahuhu at the Showgrounds. Training College and Technical College Old Boys played an eight-point draw. Results were:— Grammar 8, beat University 5. Manukau 13, beat Ponsonby 12. College Rifles 17, beat Grafton 12. Technical S. drew with Training Col. S. Marist 19, beat Otahuhu 6. The championship table is:— Points. Ch. Team. P. W. L. D. F. A. Pts.
