KATHLEEN'S TRIP TO FAIRYLAND.
(By May Johnson, 13, Wairoa Avenue, Birkenliead ; age 7.) One day Kathleen was playing with her dolls on the lawn -while her miree was busy inside tho house. She felt so tired after playing in the sun so she sat down to rest. Suddenly she saw beside her a beautiful butterfly. "Hello Kathleen," said the butterfly, "I have come to take you for a trip to fairyland. Jump on my back. Quickly now, we have no time to lose."
Kathleen climbed on to the butterfly's back and away they flew ever so fast. Very soon Kathleen saw away in the distance a beautiful little white gate. Through this gate went the butterfly and right before her the little girl saw a beautiful fairy palace surrounded by a lovely garden, and waiting to meet her the fairy queen and many other beautiful fairies.
"Welcome to fairyland, Kathleen," said the fairy queen. "Will you come and join our tea party."
So Kathleen sat down on a stone in the garden aud the fairies brought her tea in a tiny fairy cup and tiny fairy cakes. All the fairies were so kind and friendly that Kathleen thought it would be lovely' to stay in fairyland always. All at once the stone on which she was sitting seemed to slip from under her and the fairiest palace and beautiful gardens all disappeared and Kathleen found herself on her own lawn while nurse was saying, "Wake up, Kathleen, it's time for tea." It was all a beautiful dream.
