SEARCH FOR BEAUTY.
New Zealanders in Final of Film Contest. 100,000 APPLICANTS. HOLLYWOOD, September 6. From among 100,000 applicants in every English-speaking nation in the world a film studio last evening selected 30 winners in its "search for beauty" contest. The New Zealand winners were Miss Joyce Neilson, of Wellington, and Mr. Colin T*pley, of Dunedin. The Australians chosen were Miss Gwen Munro, of Melbourne, and Mr. Brian Norman, of Sydney. The final selections were mnde through screen tests. The winners have been awarded film contracts.
Miss Neilson and Mr. Tapley will leave Auckland by the Monterey on September 23. The news of their selection was announced some time ago. With the finalists from, the other countries they will appear in the film "The Search for Beauty," and while work on the film is in progress they will be under contract to receive £10 a week each for live weeks, in addition to expenses. The candidates from all countries will compete for a prize of £250 to be awarded to the best performer. The selections have been made at Hollywood, to which the screen teste from the various countries were forwarded.
