DAFFODIL SHOW.

SUPERB EXHIBITION. DISPLAY AT TOWN HALL. The Concert Chamber has been the scene of many brilliant displays during the last few months, but none has been eo beautiful as the daffodil and flower show now being held by the Auckland Horticultural Society. The entire chamber has been transformed into a bower of flowers representing a spring garden. Breaking away from the usual arrangement of rows of benches loaded with exhibits, the eociety's honorary architect, Mr. H. L. Massey, has designed the layout on artistic lines. Beds of primulas and cyclamen are set in green turf, winding pathways are bordered with scoria boulders and ferns, and there are pot plants and sprays of early fruit blossoms seen to their best advantage. The daffodils are exhibited in classes on small tables. The stage has been laid out in terraces of flowers, bamboos, and ferns, under the supervision of Mr. T. Aldridge, city council superintendent of parks and gardens. Every assistance has been given to the society by the city council towards the successful organisation of the show. Sir Edwin Mitchelson, the president of the Auckland Horticultural Society, has lent many pot plants and ferns from his own garden. Rare cyclamen and primulas in pots have been lent by the Auckland Kacing Club. The ehow was declared open at 1.30 by Mr. J. B. Paterson, who referred to Mr. H. L. Massey's fine work In planning the layout, and congratulated the society on its excellent display. Nearly 400 entries of daffodils have been received, some from as far south as Feildir.g, and they are of an unusually high standard. The number of entries constitutes a record, and is some 50 more than last year. The show will be open this evening and to-morrow.
