AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB,
Good weather conditions last Saturday enabled the riders to make record times in the four-lap race. Miss Violet Baird, who gained first place honours, also lowered the course record as well as the one-lap record by quite a good margin. This clearly ehows what an advantage pacing can be. ' , There is one well-known practice that would certainly help the ladies, and that is to "tack on" to the approaching rider. This would be a great advantage if tried; then we would see soaie surprising resulte in future races. Miss Helen Robinson, who gained second place, won the eprint from Miss Pile by sheer eflort, and well deserved the placing. Mie& Emily Pile, who gained third place, gave a spirited dash for second place, but was a little too. late. Miss Pile started from the scratch mark with Miss Baird, both ridere pacing well. Miss Flossie Wood, although a little nervous after her spill a few weeks ago, finished a close fourth.
