RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THE AUCKLAND UNION.
NEXT ALL BLACKS' TOUR.
TWO BIG GAMES ON SATUEDAY,
Mr. Harry Frost presided at last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby Football Union, which discussed the arrangements for the All Blacks' tour of Australia in 1034.
When a circular from the New Zealand Rugby Football Union was read, requesting the approval of arrangements for such a project, Mr. A. A. Baker (the ex-Poneke and 'Wellington representative) expressed the opinion that the Dominion parent body looks after the Australian Rugby Union better than it does its own unions. " These Australia-New Zealand tours are becoming too frequent," he continued, " and are rapidly becoming an annual affair."
An alternative suggested by Mr E Wright, that an All Black team would do' an amount of good to New Zealand football by touring throughout the Dominion, did not meet with much support, and, after a further brief discussion, it was resolved to advise the New Zealand Union of the committee's approval of the suggested Australian programme. An application from the Manukau Club for permission to send a team to Whangarei on September 23 was granted, subject to the club agreeing not to permit to travel any players required for representative matches.
It was reported that arrangements had been made for matches for a B section colts' representative team against the Kaipara representatives at Helensville on September 23, and against Taupiri representatives at Ngaruawahia on September 3ft.
Messrs. Geo. Nicholson and J. H. M. Muir were appointed managers of the Auckland team for the match against Wellington at Eden Park on Saturday week. The ; charges for admission to the Auck-land-Wellington match were fixed at one shilling for the ground and two shillings to the stand.
In connection with Saturday's double programme at Eden Park, as the Onehunga team could not play it was decided to put on the Grammar-'Vareity game as the curtain-raiser to Manukau-Ponsonby. Ground officials appointed for Saturday: Onehunga, Mr. R. Ansell; Domain, Mr. R. Owens; Gribble-Hirst Park, Mr. A. Stark; Avondale, Mr. F. Warren; St. Helier's, Mr. A. Twiname; Sturgess Park, Mr. P.
