ROTHERMERE PLAN.
EMPIRE CURRENCY PROPOSAL. QUEBEC, September 6. Viscount Rqthermere, who is spending a holiday at Murray Bay, Quebec, advanced a" new monetary scheme yesterday which, he said, he had discussed with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. R. B. Bennett, recently. . "If Canada's currency were linked with that of New Zealand and Australia at a discount of 25 per cent in its ratio to sterling, and if the Canadian dollar were worth intrinsically 75 cents," said Lord Rothermere, "they would be able to undersell nearly all the primary producing countries in wheat, lumber, meat products and base metals."
