A GREAT VICTORY.
FIFTH RUGGER TEST. GAME FULL OF INCIDENT. WALLABIES BEAT SPRINGBOKS. BLOEMFONTEIN, September 3. The Australian Rugby Union team, the Wallabies, on Saturday won. the tilth Rugby Union Test match against South Africa by 15 points to 4. The capital of the Orange Free State was thronged with visitors. Both teams were fit. The weather was sunny and ideal. Mr. V. H. Neser (who controlled all four Tests between the All Blacks and Springboks in 1928) was referee. Ten thousand spectators were present. The Australians opened in a speedy manner and were 12 points up in the_ first 20 minutes. Malcolm was in magnificent form and combined excellently with Stuitridge. The Springboks made a series of hot attacks but the Wallabies' defence held till half-time. Later "Fauie" Louw was injured and removed on a stretcher. Australia continued to dominate play and the tackling became very fierce. The match was full of incident. The Australians won the majority of the scrums. The two Whites, Bridle and Cerutti were outstanding in the concluding minutes. Dr. Ross' wonderful defence saved his side again and again. There was a scene of great enthusiasm after the final whistle, the players exchanging jerseys is they were surrounded by a dense throng. This Test match was even better than ike one at Durban, where the Wallabies won by 15 points. The Australians never looked like losing.
