BILLS AND BONDS.
GOVERNMENT TRANSACTIONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, September 1. Applications for tenders for Treasury bills to-day totalled £0,658,000. The amount allotted in bills at three months was £45,000,000, the average rate per cent accepted being 7/1.95 d, compared with 7/l.G4d last week. The India Office announces that the Secretary of State for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, in Council, in accordance with the conditions specified in the prospectus of May 19, 1931, under which the Government of India G per cent bonds, 1933-34, were issued, namely, that the bonds might be redeemed at par on or at any time after December 15, 1933, on three calendar months' notice being given in the London "Gazette," gives notice that it is his intention to redeem the amount of bonds outstanding at par on December 15, 1933. As from December 15, 1933, interest on these bonds will cease to be payable.
