NAZI CONGRESS.
GREAT GATHERING. NATION'S VICTORY. Assembly Opened By Italian King's Son-in-Law. HITLER'S DECLARATION. (United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 1. "I open this Congress of Victory," declared the Deputy-Nazi Chief Prince Philip of Hesse, at the gathering of 15,000 delegates in the Nuremberg Town Hall, after which a thanksgiving hymn was sung. Then there was a continuous rolling of drums while the Honour Roll of Nazi martyrs was read. The Prince of Hesse, who is a son-in-law of the King of Italy, was specially welcomed by the Italian delegation. He declared that Heir -Hitler was the guarantor of final victory to the nation. Hitler's name was thunderously cheered. Herr Hitler did not speak, but a long proclamation was read on his behalf. It declared that it was a fine thing to know the power of one's strong fist, but finer and happier to have the love of a nation. The whole of Germany now marched behind the Nazis.
It was necessary to make tremendous efforts to solve unemployment. Those who brought Germany to her present misfortunes did not share in the sufferings of their victims, but enjoyed abroad liberty to defame their own nation for foreign gold. Hitler's Snub to Women. The Nazis repudiated Parliamentarian - ism as a distortion of the nation's will, which must be expressed through its best brains. It was reckoned on Wednesday that there were 350,000 visitors in Nurem-. berg for the congress. Yesterday 400 special trains arrived, bringing thousands more. Already 450,000 tickets have been sold for the fireworks display to be held to-morrow evening. Heir Hitler spent yesterday in private consultation with the party chiefs. This greatly disappointed the women of the city, who had expected him to address their convention. Both the convention and the speech were cancelled without explanation, however. It is understood that Herr Hitler did not approve of the convention, his policy being that women's place is at home. The Hitler Youths now number 3,000,000, aged from 12 to 18. At 18 they become Storm Troopers. YOUTH MOVEMENT. Holidays to Be Devoted to Hitlerism. ATROCITY MONGERS CHARGED. (Eecelved 11.30 a.m.) BERLIN, September 1. "Weapons must not be carried in school." "Do not refuse to obey an unpopular teacher because you think he or she is hostile to the State," are among the regulations issued by the Prussian Minister of Education defining the Hitler Youth organisation's attitude. It orders that only one Sunday per month will be allowed for recreation, other holidays must be employed on duties in the Nazi movement. Hitlerites are allotted an extra half-holiday per week for "party purposes." Eleven hundred cases of "atrocity mongering" were handled in the Berlin Criminal Court since it was a punishable offence. The number of convictions is not stated. AUSTRIAN INFLATION. GERMAN TRIES TO RAISE SCARE MUNICH, September 1. Herr Knaus, so-called Nazi leader for Styria, in a broadcast speech, said Austrian soldiers crossing the frontier were not deserters but true loyalists. He attempted to raise an inflation scare and predicted the imminent fall of the Dollfuss regime.
