GLOXINIAS FROM SEED.
The least expensive method of obtainin"- a good batch of these- flowers is to purchase a packet of seed and sow now in pans of light soil. The seed needs no covering, just scatter it over .a fine even surface. Cover pans with sheets. of glass, and transfer them to a warm : house or propagator, and shade with sheets of paper. If water is required be- | fore and after germination, immerse the
pans in water. The seedlings make little headway until they are picked off, which, must bo done when they arc quite tiny. Allow two inches between the seedlings. When tho seedlings are a good size they may bo potted singly. A good plan, however, is to run them on in boxes, encouraging growth rather than tho pro-, duction of flowers the first year. A good compost consists of two parts good fibrous loam, one part peat, and half a j part each of leaf mould and sand. j
