WORK TO PROCEED.
I NEW DUNEDIN POST OFFICE. 1 SATISFACTION" EXPRESSED. : (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) r DUNEDIN, this day. Satisfaction is expressed with, the statement made by Mr. Coates that there > is to be no delay in accepting a tender ' for the new Dunedin Poet Office. Prices j are lower to-day than they have been s for a long time and it is considered that if the- American revival campaign continues prices must ehow an upward tendency in the near future. A leading Dunedin builder said ho thought the successful tenderer would be "about £280,000," whereas six years ■ ago in the boom period the job couiu ' not have been done under £350,000. A Press Association message from Wellington yesterday was to the effect r that the acting-Prime Minister, the Rt. d Hon. J. G. Coates, had denied that the j Government intended to delay the cone struction of the Dunedin Post Office. 2 Ho said the necessary financial arranger ments had already been made, not only , for this year, but for subsequent years. f The tenders were now before the Cabinet 3 and a contract would be let within a few days.
