STEDMAN CHAMPION.
WINS NORTH ENGLAND TITLE. v LONDON, August 27. The final of the singles in the North of England tennis championship on Saturday "was won by Stedman (Auckland), who heat H. K. Jjester, 6—2, 7 5, 3 6—3. The loser is ranked fourteenth in Great Britain, and played in 1926 Davis Cup. Stedman had previously won the singles in the Cromer tournament, defeating P. G. W. Graves (rank fortysecond in Britain) in the finaL In July he reached the semi-finals in the Frinton-on-Sea tournament, but was beaten by Miki (Japan).
