The outstanding result of the series of English county cricket matches, which commenced on Wednesday, was the second defeat of Yorkshire this week, over whom Kent triumphed last Tuesday. This time Surrey vanquished the champions at the Oval. Details:—■ Derby: First innings, 132 (Judge five for 27); second, 320 (Alderman 83). Middlesex: First innings, 151 (Copson five for 28); second, 100 (Mitchell six for 53). Derby won by 141 runs. Surrey: First innings, six for 500, declared (Squires 178, Sandham 96, Barling 112, Winlaw 75 not out). Yorkshire: First innings, 233 (Leyland 77); followon, five for 219 (Leyland 74 not out). Surrey won on the first innings. Worcester: First innings, 100 (Boyes six for 55); second, four for 425, declared (Walters 190 not out, Nichol 116). Hampshire: First innings, 99 (Brook six for 32); second, four for 295 (Mead 131 not out, Pothecary 70). Worcester won on the first innings. Warwickshire: First Innings, 355 (Bates 124, Wyatt 72; Sinfield seven for 98); second, six for. 181, declared (Bates 80).
