MELBOURNE'S CENTENARY.

The other day I was reading the list of celebrations in connection with Melbourne's Centenary and I thought the most wonderful part of it was the projected great air race from London to Melbourne. What a, great spectacle to fire the imagination! All the nations vicing with each' other to have the honour of winning. I thought why should not our own little country compete? We have not done anything remarkable in the air yet. I am referring' to'native-born ' New Zealanders. I feel sure we have the personnel here. If the idea takes On I am sure the longsuffering public will be honoured to subscribe for a machine. And we still have time for our pilot to go through the necessary training. I think if we could make a good show in this race it would prove a better advertisement than all the conferences, etc., and what an honour to be proud of. » ADVANCE NEW ZEALAND.
