ONE IN FOUR MINUTES.
JUDGE GRANTS 54 DIVORCES. UNDEFENDED PETITIONS. At the rate of one in a little over four minutes, 54 undefended petitions for divorce were dealt with by Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday. Forty were put through in the morning, and the remainder were dealt with in the afternoon. On the ground of mutual separation decrees nisi were granted in the following cases: Dorothy Mary Remnant (Mr. Henry) v. Cyril Lynton Remnant; Edith Marion Backhouse (Mr. R- J. Coates) v. Francis Backhouse; Ruth Pakenham (Mr. Northcroft). v. James Garfield Pakenham; Llewellyn Garlaw, Miller (Mr. Towle) v. Mary Miller. -
Failure to comply with orders to return led to' the divorce of William Frederick Thomas Bunt (Mr, Northcroft) from Louisa Maud Bunt, and of Albert Cyril Taylor (Mr. M. Adams) from Rita Annie Taylor.
On the ground of adultery, Rosalie Pengelly (Mr. Northcroft) asked for a divorce from George John Pengelly. Petitioner said she was .married in December, 1902. , A private detective said that the respondent had admitted to him that an illegitimate ' child had been born to respondent's housekeeper, and that respondent was the father. Desertion was alleged by George Richard Monds (Mr. Elworth) against Mary Kathleen Monds. A decree nisi Was granted. It was stated that the wife had disappeared. Restitution Orders. Orders for the restitution of conjugal rights were made in favour of Dorothy Mary I. Moresby (Mr. Terry) against Forescue James Moresby; Frances Adelaide Urquhart (Mr. Boyes) against Cyril Leslie Urquhart; Daisy Belle Wain (Mr. Northcroft) against Frederick Gladstone Wain.
