STOLEN BANK DRAFT.
CASHED BY LABOURER.
j Raymond Woodward, aged 38, labourer j (Mr. Aekins) pleaded guilty at the 'Police Court to-day before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to a charge of falsely representing that a demand of a second I exchange bank draft was a good and valid order. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said that a house in Nelson Street was entered and two suitcases, including clothing, were stolen. The property included the bank draft. On June 24 accused presented the draft to a hotel licensee, who accepted it and gave the accused £">■ The accused had a list of previous convictions. Mr. Aekins said that accused had a wife and child and he had cashed the draft for another man. He was under the influence of drink at the time. Counsel asked for leniency. Mr. Hunt said that accused had a lot of convictions, including one for breaking, entering and theft. He would bo imprisoned for three months.
