Mr. V. J. Larner returned from Wellington tliis morning. Dr. Chisliolm McDowell returned from Wellington this morning by tlie Limited. Lieutenant A. H. L. Sugden, of tlie New Zealand Stall' Corps, has been gazetted a captain. Mr. Albert Russell, a director of J. J. Niven and Co., Ltd., left by Saturday afternoon's express for Wellington. Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, who returned to Auckland from Rotorua yesterday, leaves for Wellington this evening by the Limited. Sergeant C. Clist, of the Auckland polico° force, who has been transferred to New Plymouth, will leave shortly to take uo his duties there. Mr. A. F. Ellis, New Zealand member of the British Phosphate Commission, arrived from Nauru Island on Saturday evening by the Alynbank. Air. X. A. Roberts, general manager for New Zealand for Nestle's AngloSwiss Condensed Milk Co., Ltd., is leaving by the Limited this evening for Wellington. Mr C G. Treadwell, of Wellington, president of the New Zealand Law Society, has been appointed a member of the rules committee under the Judicature Amendment Act, 1930. Mr C. E. Barnes, formerly senior business agent for the Railway Department at Dunedin, arrived in Auckland on Saturday. He will take over the duties of stationmaster licre this week.
