OLD BOYS' REUNION.

PRINCE ALBERT COLLEGE

SPIRIT OF THE SCHOOL.

Over 100 members of the Prince Albert College Old Boys' Association attended the annual reunion held at the Star Hotel on Saturday evening. Mr. J. E. Close, who presided, mentioned that the college had been closed since 1000 and. said that, because of the length of time the school had been out of existence, the gathering was probably unique. That its spirit still lived was a wonderful tribute to the place the college held in the esteem of men who had passed through it. The annual reunions were becoming more popular every year. The toast oT "The Old School" was proposed by Mr. H. P. Burton, who said that the school building, situated in Upper Queen Street, and now used by the Salvation Army, had been built 85 years ago for a school founded by the Rev. Walter Lawry. The building, in those early days of Auckland's history, was a landmark in the city, and the school, then known as Wesley College, played an important part in the community life. Mr. Burton emphasised the traditions which had been built up by the subsequent work of the Prince Albert College during its 11 years of life under the iieadmasterships of Mr. T. Jackson and Mr. Stuart Stephenson, and expressed the hope that the Methodist Church would yet see the need for reopening the college. Mr. P. Drummond, a former master of the college, responded to the toast. The toast of "Kindred Associations" was proposed by Mr. H. C. Rishworth (Whangarei) and replied to by Messrs. A. Billington (Auckland Grammar), the Rev. Jasper Calder (King's College), C. Sneddon (Sacred Heart College) and R. Clark (Paerata College). Letters were read from past masters of the college and ex-pupils in all parts of the world, many of whom are holding high executive positions in commerce and the professions. Officers elected were: President, Mr. F. W. Thorne; vice-president, Dr. Frank Macky; joint secretaries, Messrs. B. L. Buddie and A. R. Jenkins; committee, Messrs. A. E. Lawry, P. Dellow, N. R. Jones, H. P. Burton," F. M. Winstone, H. W. Cooke, P. Tudehope, G. Marriner and R. Ross. It was announced that the school roll of over 4"00 names had been investigated, and the present addresses of nearly all the ex-pupils had been ascertained. Each guest was presented with a booklet bearing the addresses.
