WEST END CLUB. DIAMOND JUBILEE PREPARATIONS. The forty-ninth annual general meeting of the West End Rowing Club was held in the boathousc, St. Mary's Bay, last evening. Mr. A. M. Pa to rs on, patron, presided over an attendance of fifty members, and also present were Messrs. A. C. Norden, president; G. Clarke, vicepresident; and Messrs. J. A. Mackenzie, A. M. Wilson, W. 11. Conway, and J. H. Bigelow, life members. In his opening remarks Mr. Paterson referred to the coming season as the diamond jubilee year of the club, and paid a tribute to the early members for the foundations they laid. He impressed upon the members the prestige they have to uphold, and trusted no effort would be spared in making the forthcoming season worthy of the occasion, quoting the examples of Mr. John Clark and other stalwarts of by-gone years. Mr. Paterson congratulated the members upon the splendid record achieved last season in regatta and inter-club racing, and noted with pleasure that it was most creditable to find the balance-sheet showing a credit of £41 3/3. Mr. A. C. Norden also congratulated the members upon winning the Sir Henry Brett Memorial Cup for the first occasion, and the Smith Shield after a lapse of so many years. The report and balance-sheet as presented were adopted. ' . The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. A. M. Paterson; president, Mr. A. C. Nordon; vice-presidents, as last year, and the Rev. W. Averill; honorary members, as last year; club captain, Mr. D. G. Stotter; deputy captain, Mr. V. McFarlane; assistant deputy captain, Mr.. M. H. D. Conway; hon. secretary, Mr. C. G. Herd man; assistant hon. secretary, Mr. F. G. Bowling; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. A. Parsons; management committee. Messrs. C. Dunster, E. Such, O. W. Felton, N. Ganley, N. W. Jerrome: delegates A.R.A.. Messrs. D. G. Stotter, J. C. Cutken, C..G. Herdman; selection committee, Messrs. D. G. Stotter, M. D. N. Conway, C. J. Wright; hon. auditors, Messrs. J. C. Gulliver, A. M. Spencer; hon. solicitor, Mr. Louis Phillips. The notice of motion moved by Mr. V. McFarlane, that the date of the annual meeting be "altered from June to August was defeated. A recommendation to be forwarded to the Auckland Rowing Association was carried, that the club considers this' coming season a most opportune one for the New Zealand championship regatta, to be held in Auckland, and that an application for same be made to the N.Z.A.R.A. 1
