i METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. DISTRIBUTION OF BOOTS. Since tlie last mooting of the Auckland Metropolitan Unemployment Relief Committee 271 pairs of boots had been distributed. Of the number 10L pairs were given free, 140 pairs were sold at half cost to campers, and .'SO pairs at half cost to men on relief in the metropolitan area. The secretary to the trustees of the Governor-General s winter relief fund, Wellington, wrote stating that a jam manufacturing firm had given 2-">0 tins of jam per month for three months, and another firm had given £2.') worth of woollen goods, and there had also been a gift of firewood. The donations were for distribution in Auckland.
