CHARGES FOR WATER.
HEVISION AT BIRKENHEAD
Tlic water charges at Birkenhead have been reviewed by the Borough Council with a-view to removing anomalies, particularly iu respect to fruitgrowers' supplies. Alterations have been decided upon with a view to a more equitable system of payment in accoidance with the quantity used. The new charges, are expected to yield about the same total revenue as was formerly collected from water consumers. The annual minimum charge for ordinary supply has been reduced from fl to 10/, but tiie 'to of Min the £on the unimproved value has been raised to 12d. Non-consumers, are to pay half these charsres? The quarterly minimum charge of 15/ for meter supplies within the borough has been eliminated, and payment "will bo made solely on the basis of water consumed at the rate of 1/10 per 1000 gallons, instead of 1/6 per 1000 gallons with the 15/ quarterly minimum hitherto.
