BICYCLE THEFTS.
SENTENCE OF THREE MONTHS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. An unemployed married man, Jack William Matthews, aged 33, charged with the theft of seven bicycles, was sentenced by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., today to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. The police said accused advertised tne bicycles for sale at bargain prices, despite the fact that he had none at the time. He received 50 replies, and following that he made periodical visits to the front of the post office, stealing seven machines valued at £17 10A in succession. For these he received £7 17/6. „_____
