WORK OF MISSIONS.
THE CHRISTIAN MOTIVE
The Christian and the missionary, motive was the subject of a sermon delivered bv the Rev. J. Alfred Kaye at the Beresford Street Congregational Church last evening. Mr. Kaye is chairman of the London Missionary Society , committee . controlling the Southern Pacific, and arrived in Auckland last week in the course of a tour of inspection of the work of the society. Outlining the motive behind missionary enterprise, Mr. Kaye said that that motive was not dependent upon economi' or political argument. The wide sweep of the Christian motive was the motive for the missionary. The love of Christ motived the mission workers even toward the most degraded. There was no motive more forceful or effective than that one. When the world adopted the motive of the love of Christ a great many of the international and industrial problem, would take wings.
