ACCESS TO WELLINGTON.
"Nothing definite has yet been arranged as to when a commencement wUI be made on this alternative route sail the Minister of Employment when interviewed in connection; with a state ment of the Mayor of T C A Hislop, that the Government had approved of the construction of an alternative highway giving access to and from Wellington, and that work would commence at the Johnsonville end, possible- next week. . ~ Mr. Hamilton explained that earlier in the week a conference had been held to discuss certain preliminaries in the matter between representatives of the Wellington City Council, Johnsonville Town Board, Public Works department, and Unemployment Board. He had stated that if the local bodies concerned we 're prepared to make a reasonable contribution toward the cost, then the Public Works Department and the Unemployment Board would do their share in* the work undertaken.
