MARKET OPENS ACTIVE

BUT SOME LINES EASIER

At the first call of the Auckland Stocl Exchange this morning bidding was quiti free, but in some lines there was an easiei tendency. New Zealand Insurances sold 6d lower at £2 9/6, after which there were seller! at £2 9/8. In tlie same section Nationals "were offered 2d cheaper, at 16/6. In Australian securities Goldsbrough Moris were easier, being on oftcr at hi 5/3. Buyers for Dominion Fertilisers raised their offers to 11/. The mining section was. fairly busy, Alexanders receiving special attention. After a reported sale at 0/9 there was a transaction in the room at .10/0, with more wanted at that money. Government stocks were unchanged. Values Steady at Noon. Values were steady at the noon call, and a "ood list of sales was put through. Bank of New Zealands did further business without change, after which holders moved up 3d, and buyers remained -in- at 2d below. r/ . 1 The morning easing of New Zealand Insurances was confirmed by further sales at the lower figure, after which more'were available. ' ... Auckland Gas were in good demand at -the same price as last week, and theie were still buyers at that level fo lowmS sales, thus causing sellers to ask -d more. New Zealand Breweries showed continued firmness, with prospects of fuither business around current values. There was -no change in New Zealand Newspapers, for which there continues to be a steady demand. New Zealand Paper Mills also were ■unchanged. '. • A t)enny rise was recorded_ by _ .New Zealand Refrigerating contributing shares, and this was feflected by a penny increase in quotations. _ .i- '" The only activity in the mining section was a sale of Blackwaters at an advance of 6d. . • . Among Government securities sellers of the 4 per cent inscribed stocks came in again at 15/ above par. for three out of the four issues.
