GOLDEN DAWN.

TEAR'S OPERATIONS. Golden Dawn Gold Mince, Ltd. (Owharoa), reports that for tlie 12 working days ended .Tune 8 a total of 375 tons realised £524, sold valued at £4 an ounce Reviewing the operations of the conipanv at the annual niootina yesterday. Mr. J Farrell, chairman of directors, said too total tonnage trented in 1032 since operations commenced was 01S7 tons, iucluding 243 tons treated in December, 1931. After pavment of duty and cost o£ sale, this realised £30.048, or £3 7/5 a ton. The costs of mining had been above normal, due to the extreme hardness of both the reefs nnd the country and the absence of cleavace between rock and reef. In addition, the widths were narrow, and as the drives and stopes were wider than the reefs a good deal of country rock had to be taken out. as well as reef matter. The costs of mining nnd overhead during the year were £25,-197, equal to £3 2/ a ton. The directors had been making every effort to increase returns and decrease costs. All ore winning wor kwas now let by contract. The mining costs were declining, and during the eight weeks from February 28 to April 22 the figures showed a profit of £870, of -which £362 was spent on development. As values were found Inconsistent in the higher levels, the company proceeded with extensions at No. 3 level on No. 1 and No. 3 reefs, and these both indicated that values continued right up to the face oh both re.efs. Statements had been made that the battery was not up to date, but they were incorrect, the saving being 05 per cent of the values in the ore. The report and balance-shact was adopted. Profit for the half-year ended December 81 was £91)0, increasing the balance iu the profit and loss appropriation account to £1463. The retiring directors, Messrs. Karrell nnd C. Adams, were re-elected. KING SOLOMON WASH-UP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILT,, Friday. The wash-up at the King Solomon Deep Lead mine (Gore) for the past week totalled 38oz 16Uwt.
