WOMEN'S DIVISION.

The following meetings of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union have been held recently: — The Clevcdon branch had an attendance of over 50 members. It was unanimously decided to support the division stall at the Auckland Winter Show. A "community" quilt is being knitted by members. Mrs. Edward Allen, of Auckland, gave a talk on the exchange shop at Auckland. A regular e'upply of goods its being forwarded weekly, and members expressed their satisfaction with monetary returns and transport arrangements. A "bring and buy" eta 11 did good business, and proceeds are being forwarded to community chest fuude. Drury celebrated its first birthday recently, when visitors were present from Clevedon, Pukckohe East and Bombay. Musical iteme, poetry, reading and a play by ths Bombay visitors contributed to an enjoyable afternoon. Mrs. Noel Ada me, president of the Wuitemata Provincial Council, congratulated the branch on the year'e progress. The birthday cake was made and iced by Mrs. E. Feilding, vicc-preeident. A new branch has been - formed at Mangatangi, via Pokeno, by Mrs. L. l>. Allen. The .following officer* were elected: —President, Mrs. R. Potts: vicepresidents, Meedames Johnson, Wilson and Holder; secretary and treaeurcr, Miss Chiprnan. Oncwhero has celebrated ite third birthday, the birthday cake being given and cut by Mrs. Gutry, tho late president. Mrs. E. Alien, of Auckland, gave an interesting talk on the exchange shop, and visitors wero also present from Pukekawa, Tuakau and Pukekohe. A car competition was held, and there was an enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental music and rocitations. Celebrations continued in the evening, when a wy successful dance wae held. At Pokeno a morning meeting in the Town Hall was held, nnd vieitore from Pukeka.va entertained. Mrs. Hawke save an interesting demonstration of cane and raffia work. Five new members were enrolled. The sponge- cake competition was judged by th'e visitors. Kiverhead held a successful dance, the proceeds of which have boon used to purchase materials and wool for welfare wpvfc. Members are now buey sewing and knitting for the .icody. At the monthly meeting two competitions were held, and the bring and buy table was the centre of much interest. Plans were made for a social function at an early date, and for demonstrations of mat-making and the uaing up of old stockings.
