Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trengrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated May 29:— Butter: 79/ per cwt. Cheese: White, 47/ per cwt; coloured, 53/. A better feeling in both markets.

HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cable, dated May 27, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: —
Port Dunedin discharged at London in good condition. Opawa at Liverpool; apples in sound condition. Pears in forward condition. Arrivals of Australian apples in three weeks to' June 13, 1,750,000 cases. Market is becoming quckly demoralised, and little improvement expected before the end of June.
Apples.—Bulk prices: Granny Smith, 12/6 to 13/6; Cleopatra, Dougherty and Ballarat, 10/ to 11/; London Pippin, Lord Wolseley and Adam's Pearniain, 8/ to 0/; Sturmer, 10/6 to 11/6; Jonathan, Delicious, Dunn's and Rome Beauty, 9/ to 10/; Otago Cox's Orange, 16/.
Pears.—Market glutted. Opawa, Eangitane Winter Coles and others over-ripe. Bulk sales: P. Barry, 12/ to 13/6; Beurre Boec, L'lnconuu, Beurre Clairgenu and Beurre Diel, 9/ to 10/6; Winter Cole, 8/ to 9/; Winter Nelis, 11/ to 12/; Keiffer and Vicar of Winkfield, 8/6 to 9/6; Twyford, 7/6 to 7/9; Winter Nelis, 9/ to 12/; Winter Nelis and P. The Port Dunedin's New Zealand apples realised:—Jonathans, 8/ to 9/3; Dunns, 8/6 to 9/6; Ballarats, 10/ to 10/6; Stunners, 8/9 to 10/6. VALUES IN GERMANY. ' (Received 10 a.m.) HAMBUKG, May 29. The Port Adelaide's South Australian apples sold as follows:—Cleopatvas, 10/3 to 14/10; Dunns, 10/3 to 15/11; Jonathans, 11/8 to 14/2; Koines, 10/3 to 13/5. The s.s. Tigres' Tasmanian:—Cleopatras, 8/6 to 12/9; Duniis, 10/7 to 12/9; Jonathans, 9/11 to 14/2; Scarlets, 9/6 to 11/8; others, 5/8 to 12/4. Tasmanian pears were very wasty and many worthless. A small quantity of sound Vicars in boxes brought 7/1 to 9/2; Duehesse, 9/2 to 13/4; Packham, 7/1 to 11/4. THE PRICE OF GOLD. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 29. Gold is quoted at £6 3/3 per ounce.
