PROVINCIAL NEWS.
TE POI. The Te Poi Memorial Hall was filled with a representative gathering for the social evening given for Miss L. Cobham. Items were given by Miss M. Sullivan, Miss , Muriel Robinson, and Mr. W. Apperley. The evening was organised by the Young People's Club, and went with, a swing under the guidance of the president, Mr. W. Apperley. DARGAVILLE. The Dargaville District High School Old Pupils' Association held its annual reunion dance in the Royal Theatre, which was tastefully decorated in gold, red and blue streamers, the school's colours. During the evening, Mr. H. F. Wilkinson, headmaster of the Dargaville District High School, congratulated the old pupils on their success and also extended a public welcome to Mr. G. Davidson, who in former years had charge of the school. Members of the committee were: Misses V. Cowie, G. Toogood, J. Stubbs, E. Dunn, F. Gregory, A. Gordon, E. Edmonds, Messrs. E. Bird, E. Johnson, L. Nichol, F. Bagnall, C. Bennett. Several novelty numbers were enjoyed, the winners being: Misses L. Wells, I. Newman, M. Smith, Messrs. G. Mahon, K. Oxenham, T. Bowyer. Among those present were: Mesdames M. C. Astlcy, D. Stewart, R. W. Harding, W. R. Worsley, A. S. Bagnall (Auckland), A. R. Webb, R. Fraeer, H. Smith, N. Davidson, J. Davidson, C. Cowper, Misses M. Powell, J. Allen, M. Watkins, J. Barker, A. Tonkin, Z. Walker, K. Moir, J. Bagnall. L. Lloyd, J. Gordon, P. Vause, F. Cliffe, N. Stanaway, T. Smith, E. McLean, R. Collinge, D. Bourke, J. Davideon (Auckland), P. Kimber, M. Crawford, Wallace, M. Harding, V. Costello, A. Morrison, M. Dell, L. Smith, I. Ross, M. Milne, G. Ellison, H. Phillips, R. Carr, E. Coleman, N. Newman, Z. A. Jacobeen (Auckland). At a dance held by the Waima Football Club in the Donnelly Crossing Hall the Monte Carlo waltz wae won by MS«ss E. Paton and Mr. D. Neuman. A huge turkey donated by Miss E. Cann was won by Mr. J. Trounson. Mrs. L. Glynn (Dargaville) is the guest of Mrs. C. Samson, of Donnelly's Crossing. Members of .the Dargaville Croquet Club were entertained by the president, Mrs. F. E. Gould, at her residence, when the opportunity was taken to present trophies won during the season. Mrs. N: O. White again won the A championship, with Mrs. G. Hayes runner-up. Miss Stephenson won the B handicap. Other trophy winners were Mesdames S. Smith, F. Antonelli, C. D. Wykes. and Miss Washer. The president, on behalf of members, handed to Mrs. H. J. L. Goldthorpe a small token of during her sojourn in Dargaville and wished her well in her new home in England. A surprise party was extended to Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Thomas, of Aranga, by some 40 friends. The evening was happily spent in playing games and dancing to music supplied by Miss E. Donney (banjo mandolin) and Mr. Ted Markwick.
