DISTINGUISHED VISITOR.

Miss Edith Thompson, C.8.E., accompanied by Miss P. H. Dawson (president of tile N.Z.W.H.A.) were the guests of the officers and executive of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association at their playing fields on Saturday afternoon. After witnessing the games the guests partook of afternoon tea on the pavilion. The table decorations were carried out in the local association's colours, royal blue and white. Amongst those present were: Mr. L. C. Kent (president), Miss M. Goldsboro (vice-president), Mrs. Nash (chairman of executive), Misses Jeffrey, Meiklejohn and Simpson (executive members), Miss C. Maris-Clark (umpire), and Misses E. R. Burton (hon. treasurer) and A. Twiname (hon. secretary). Illness prevented the attendance of Mr. Gage Brown (patron).

Miss Thompson was also the guest of honour at a small dinner party given by the New Zealand Women's Hockey Association at the Royal Hotel last evening. Miss P. H. Dawson, president of the New Zealand Women's Hockey Association, acted as hostess. After dinner Miss Thompson told of her hockey experiences in the many lands visited by her previously, as a player'and as a team manager. Miss Thompson spoke of players in other countries, who were still playing, and who had been playing continuously for the past 28 and 30 years, and of the methods employed by teams in other lands to arrange tours. Amongst those present were: Mrs. W. Fuller (life member and vice-president of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association), Miss Goldsbro (vice-president of the A.L.H.A.), Mrs. D. Nash (chairman of executive of the A.L.H.A.), Miss Burton (hon. treasurer of the A.L.H.A.), and Miss A. Twiname (hon. secretary A.L.H.A.).
