REQUEST TO UNIVERSITY.

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday.

A request that the Canterbury College board of governors should support the application to the Senate that the University of New Zealand should conduct examinations and grant degrees in divinity was mads by a deputation of ministers which waited oh the board to-day. The Churches represented were the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist and Church of Christ."

In reply to a question by a member of the board, the Rev. J.
