(By Kathleen Hollington, Bridge House, v WarU worth.) The moonlight beamed on a sil T'^ n lakc ' And (he stars they bright!} shone, Upon the glassy waters still, Until the moon had gone. Then one bv one they disappeared While the sky grew «rey and pale. The lake now shimmered ))ut twinkled less, I/iktt one in a fairy tale. Then 'all at once the sky grew red, And the clouds a fleecy pink, While the dimmest star disappeared from sight. And the palest moon did sink. Then daylight spread npon the earth, And the hlacltbirds flew a-wing. Tin 1 sun arose from a scarlet bed. And the world was a constant ring. \ Original.
